  • 100 grams of granulated sugar
  • 100 grams of butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of almond extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 50 grams of powdered sugar for glazing
  • 1 tablespoon of milk or water for glaze

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, incorporating them thoroughly into the mixture.
  • Gently fold in the flour, almond extract, and citrus zest until combined.
  • Divide the dough into smaller sections and roll each into long, thin ropes about a half-inch thick.
  • Twist each rope into a spiral shape to form the uncinetti.
  • Place the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space for them to expand.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Remove cookies and allow cooling on a wire rack.
  • Prepare glaze by whisking powdered sugar with milk or water until smooth, then drizzle over cooled cookies.
