Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 9 no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Brown the Beef. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Break it up with a spoon as it cooks. Once it’s browned, drain off any excess grease.
  • Sauté Aromatics. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Simmer the Sauce. Pour in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Make the Cheese Mixture. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
  • Assemble the Lasagna. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Then, layer 3 no-boil lasagna noodles over the sauce, overlapping if needed. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat Layers. Repeat the layers: sauce, 3 noodles, remaining ricotta cheese mixture, 1 cup mozzarella cheese.
  • Final Layer. Top with the final 3 noodles, remaining sauce, and the last cup of mozzarella cheese. Make sure everything is evenly distributed for the best results.
  • Bake the Lasagna. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is heated through.
  • Rest and Serve. Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before cutting and serving. This allows the layers to set and makes it easier to slice.

Notes

This Million Dollar Lasagna is decadent, comforting, and surprisingly easy to throw together. A rich, cheesy lasagna that even the pickiest eaters will devour!
