  • 200 grams of brown sugar
  • 100 grams of granulated sugar
  • 300 grams of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 400 grams of caramel
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some extra for easy removal.
  • In a mixing bowl, blend the butter and sugars until creamy and fluffy. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  • Press the shortbread mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for about 20 minutes until lightly golden, then let it cool completely in the pan.
  • Prepare the caramel by combining butter, brown sugar, and cream in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until melted and bubbling, simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened, then pour over the cooled shortbread layer.
  • Melt the dark chocolate in a microwavable bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth, then pour it over the set caramel layer.
  • Let it all set in the fridge for at least an hour before cutting into squares.
