  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined. Stir in the red food coloring until the dough is evenly colored.
  • Fold in the white chocolate chips and chopped pecans, if using. Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
