Soft, pillowy, and incredibly easy to make, this no-yeast naan bread uses Greek yogurt for a tender texture and delicious tang.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. Add the Greek yogurt to the dry ingredients.
  3. Mix with a wooden spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface.
  5. Gently knead the dough for 1-2 minutes until it forms a smooth ball.
  6. If the dough is too wet, dust it with a little extra flour.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.
  8. Working with one piece at a time, gently stretch and shape each piece into a thin rectangle about 1/4-inch thick and 5-6 inches long.
  9. Heat a cast-iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat for about 2 minutes until hot.
  10. Place one shaped piece of dough onto the dry pan.
  11. Cook for 3 minutes without moving it until bubbles form and the bottom has light golden-brown spots.
  12. Flip the naan and cook for another 2 minutes until the second side is also browned.
  13. Remove the naan from the pan.
  14. Repeat with the remaining dough pieces, cooking in batches.
  15. While the naan are still warm, melt the butter in a small bowl.
  16. Brush each cooked naan piece generously with melted butter on both sides.
  17. Sprinkle the garlic powder evenly over the buttered naan.
  18. Stack the finished naan on a clean kitchen towel or plate to keep warm.

Notes

Use full-fat Greek yogurt for the best texture and flavor.
Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook naan in batches to maintain even heat.
Brush butter and garlic powder on immediately after cooking for maximum flavor absorption.
Keep cooked naan covered to stay soft and warm.
